MA in Ethics and Justice

The MA degree program in Ethics and Justice will provide you with focused academic training in theological disciplines with a focus on theological and religious ethics.

This program may be a good fit for you if you are interested in pursuing:

  • A doctorate in theological ethics in preparation for work as a professor in a seminary, divinity school or college or as a public theologian
  • A career as an ethics teacher in a private school or church
  • A career as a leader of a social justice ministry or an organization involved in ethical leadership or thought leadership concerning social justice concerns (e.g., an environmental or economic program, a progressive ethical think-tank, etc.)

 

CONCENTRATION LEARNING OUTCOMES

In addition to achieving the core MA degree learning outcomes, a graduate of the MA in Ethics and Justice program will be able to:

  • apply to their academic study an appropriate critical analysis of and reflection on social issues from a variety of ethical perspectives; and
  • demonstrate a competent understanding of a selected topic within the academic study of ethics and justice through the effective critical interpretation, analysis and synthesis of appropriate sources.

 

United’s MA at a Glance

  • 36 credits
  • Eleven 3-credit courses plus a 3-credit thesis, or ten 3-credit courses plus a 6-credit thesis
  • Can be completed in two years if you take a full-time course load (24 credits per year) and complete your thesis in approximately one trimester
  • All MA concentrations can be completed entirely via distance learning
