Travis Norvell

ADJUNCT PROFESSOR

Travis Norvell describes his theology this way: “Learning how to live the story of Christianity in a way to help love the numbness out of my neighbor and myself.” The writers who speak to him most include Marilynne Robinson, Thomas Merton, Walter Rauschenbusch, Howard Thurman, Wendell Berry, Dorothy Day and Denise Giardina. He graduated from Marshall University and, in 2000, from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. The pastoral life has called him to serve churches in Athens, West Virginia; Lincoln, Rhode Island; and most recently New Orleans, Louisiana. When he is not busy solving life’s persistent problems, you can find him enjoying time with his wife Lori, a recycled-fabric artist, and perfecting his patented moves for the game of tag with his three kids.
