Arts Lunch: Grief, Hope, Action: Art in the Wake of the Derek Chauvin Verdict and the Killing of Daunte Wright

April 27, 2021 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

In this arts lunch we will provide space for community to create art and reflect on the role of arts in movement building and community organizing. In particular, we consider the role of arts in healing, mourning, and the fight for justice in the wake of the Derek Chauvin Verdict and the police killing of Daunte Wright. What art have you turned to into these times? What art practices or exercises provide spiritual and emotional support amidst tragedy? How can art address white supremacy and work toward solidarity across racial, ethnic, gendered, sexual, and economic divides?  Feel free to bring coloring books, knitting, felting, a sketch book, paint, clay, other art supplies or just yourself to make art in this low-stakes, reflective space.
