Rev. Karen Hutt, United’s Vice President for Student and Community Engagement, and Emily Stacken (’21) are involved in this important discussion on “Radicalizing Death: a good death.” Hosted by the Minnesota Death Collaborative, this event is a continuation of the Radical Death Series created by Emily for her United capstone project for the Social Transformation program, in which she looked at racial disparities within the death positive movement, ancestral honoring practices, and collective grief.

Fall Convocation ceremonially marks the beginning of the new academic year. Join us as we worship together and celebrate the installation of Rev. Dr. Jessica Chapman Lape as Assistant Professor of Interreligious Chaplaincy and Program Director for Interreligious Chaplaincy.

Faculty, adjunct faculty, emeriti/ae faculty, trustees, and officers will process.

Rev. Dr. Chapman Lape will preach “In the Wilderness: A Womanist Embrace for Liminality.”

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
Information and Skill Building

Every Monday at 12 noon CT

If you’re enrolled in a degree program that requires you to complete one unit of CPE, these informational sessions will answer all of your questions. Prior to coming to UTS, Rev. Karen Hutt was a CPE Educator at four major hospitals in Chicago and most recently at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. She is currently leading a local CPE Program in Public Chaplaincy. Given the nature of the pandemic, programs will vary throughout the country. This will require you to have a coherent plan for your application process and site selection. Finding the Sacred in the Secular by exploring the mythological themes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Dustin Wilsor theorizes that these blockbuster movies may serve as a kind of modern-day parable by paralleling them with the foundational mythological themes of major world religions.
