    Contemplative Prayer Gathering

    8:00 AM
    2020.08.05
All are invited to a shared Contemplative Gathering every Wednesday morning to gather together in silence and sit in communal contemplation. This is an opportunity to find grounding in the moment, and to share in that grounding energy with similarly self-directed explorers. The last ten minutes of the session are devoted to sharing aloud prayers that have been submitted during the week.
If you have anyone in your heart for whom you would like to request a prayer, please use this form before 7 p.m. on the Tuesday before the session to submit your request. Prayer requests will be accepted on a first-requested, first-offered basis until capacity (still being determined) is met for our available time. Please be brief in the wording of your requests. Please contact Scott Campbell for more information.

Arts Lunch: Let’s Face It: (Self) Portrait Drawing on Zoom

    11:45 AM-1:00 PM
    2020.08.11

Join us as we experiment with portraiture and self-portraiture using Zoom instead of a mirror! We’ll play with different methods of drawing, and—inspired by artists like Alexander Calder—will push the limits of drawing by employing nontraditional materials. You’re invited to have paper (or any other drawing support) and a variety of drawing/writing instruments. Nontraditional “drawing” materials might include yarn, wire, sand, and more!

    2020.08.11

The United community is invited to join Dr. Ayo’s Buddhist Pastoral/Spiritual Care class on August 11th from 9:30 – 11 a.m. to hear the panel discussion “From Catholicism to Buddhism and Back Again, or Not.” Panelists include United students Kelly Casey, Daria Day, scottie hall, and Eileen Hanson.  Many Buddhists in the US are converts to Buddhism, so what aspects of their root traditions do they bring to Buddhism? These panelists will describe how they understand the spiritual movements between Catholicism and the Buddhism(s) they practice now and discuss how we provide spiritual care to people informed by Catholicism and Buddhism? All are welcome.
