Sexual Assault and Violence: Caring For and Being with Survivors

    1:00 PM-3:00 PM
    April 1, 2020
United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities
767 Eustis St., Suite 140, St. Paul, MN 55114

It’s not always easy to know what to say when someone tells you they’ve been sexually assaulted. As spiritual leaders, chaplains and clergy we will often be in a position to meet these survivors in crisis. How comfortable are you listening to these narratives? What triggers do you have to navigate? Learn from professionals about some of the do’s and don’t of providing short term and long term care to survivors, while exploring your own understanding and feelings.

Arts Lunch, Decameron Part II – ZOOM

    11:30 AM-1:30 PM
    April 7, 2020

Last week’s story time was so successful, we decided to do a part two! If you have a favorite fairytale, tall-tale, poem, ghostly legend, or short story you want to share? Then, in the tradition of Boccaccio’s Decameron (a medieval text where, in the midst of a plague, quarantined nobles tell stories to one another to pass the time), we are hosting our own virtual storytelling session.

    Arts Lunch: Diorama-orama! – ZOOM

    11:30 AM-1:30 PM
    April 14, 2020

In a time of confinement and quarantine, our living quarters may feel smaller and smaller by the day! To break out of this box, we will be playing with ideas of space at this week’s arts lunch. A diorama is a three-dimensional model, usually in some kind of enclosure. We invite you to create your own diorama—whether it’s of your living space, somewhere you want to visit but can’t, or something completely imagined! You can create before or during the arts lunch and we’ll share our creations. Materials can include some kind of box/enclosure, fabric, paper, and props like toys.
