What’s happening on campus?

< 2020 >

We’ll meet in the UTS chapel on Tuesday, February 11, from 2:00-3:30.
Bring your expertise and experience; your questions and conundrums; your joy in contemplative practices; your wondering how to weave it together.
We may wind up with a “liturgy” or two – and at the very least, a network of contemplative worship planners to support, inspire and empower one another!

On February 23, 2020, UCC churches are invited to participate in Seminary Sunday. Congregations use Seminary Sunday to explore the importance of theological education for their communities. This is an opportunity to meet seminarians and faculty from United and invite them to participate in worship through preaching, speaking or Christian education. We are happy to assist you in your preparations for Seminary Sunday. Please contact the Cindi Beth Johnson, director of alum and church engagement at cbjohnson@unitedseminary.edu or 651.255.6137.

Retreat for seminarians, caregivers and changemakers. We know that you all experience enormous challenges, and burnout among people like you is high. That’s why we want to offer you the opportunity to spend the day with us, relaxing and refreshing yourself. There will be several different options for self-care. Yoga, Healing Touch, Aromatherapy, dance workshop, arts expressions, Reiki and more. Come when you are able and stay as long as you like. Healthy snacks and beverages are available; lunch is not included. All are welcome but registration is requested.

Join Rev. Karen Hutt and local experienced chaplains as we seek to provide care to souls in public places. Learn how to be available for a stranger in need with a friendly listening ear. Learn to meet people where they are in the food court, in the courthouse lobby, where people may be facing loneliness, sadness, joy or discernment.

Contact Karen Hutt for more information.

This event consists of a viewing of the recent documentary White Savior: Racism in the American Church, followed by facilitated discussion.
The description of the film: “Despite the progress, many see in the US over the years, it’s become increasingly clear that the deep roots of racism and white supremacy continue to run through our political, cultural, and religious institutions. White Savior explores the historic relationship between racism and American Christianity, the ongoing segregation of the church in the US, and the complexities of racial reconciliation.”
