    Radical Death Series

    6:00 PM-7:00 PM
    November 1, 2020

The phrase, “a good death” has become more and more prevalent in the public conversations around death and dying. But in many ways, that phrase creates a narrow focus that excludes issues of justice that are tightly woven into death as they are into life. The Radical Death Series, is a four-part series of conversations that will help widen our lens and broaden our scope when engaging in discussions around death and dying. The first session is Nov 1, 2020. Click here for registration and details.

Chapel: The Dreams the Dreamers Dream

    11:35 AM-12:00 PM
    November 3, 2020

“Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part to help build what we called the Beloved Community, a nation and world society at peace with itself.” —John Lewis, July 30, 2020

Please join us on Election Day for a multimedia liturgy that explores the dreams people have for our country and our world. What do we cherish? What is yet unfulfilled? What must be healed? What do our ancestors long for us to create? What world are we building for those who come after us? What dreams do we dream? Led by Drs. Jennifer Awes-Freeman and Justin Sabia-Tanis.

Immediately following chapel, please join us for an Arts Lunch that will further explore these themes through the work of several artists and musicians.

Arts Lunch: The Dreams the Dreamers

    12:00 PM-1:00 PM
    November 3, 2020

Immediately following chapel, please join us for an arts lunch that will continue to explore how we can collectively broaden our vision of America. To do so, we’ll consider the work of some artist and musicians who have reimagined America and “American-ness,” such as Langston Hughes and Jasper Johns, among others.

    Contemplative Prayer Gathering

    8:00 AM
    November 4, 2020
All are invited to a shared Contemplative Gathering every Wednesday morning to gather together in silence and sit in communal contemplation. This is an opportunity to find grounding in the moment, and to share in that grounding energy with similarly self-directed explorers. The last ten minutes of the session are devoted to sharing aloud prayers that have been submitted during the week.
If you have anyone in your heart for whom you would like to request a prayer, please use this form before 7 p.m. on the Tuesday before the session to submit your request. Prayer requests will be accepted on a first-requested, first-offered basis until capacity (still being determined) is met for our available time. Please be brief in the wording of your requests. Please contact Scott Campbell for more information.
