This generous collection of Dr. Lowe’s writings was given by his daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee Dayton. At the core of this collection are 20 volumes of sermons—indexed by subject—given by Dr. Lowe primarily during his time as senior pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. The collection also contains lectures, poetry, letters, photographs and a host of other materials from as early as 1917 and continuing through 1976. Some circulation restrictions may apply to the use of this collection.
This generous gift of approximately 80 volumes offers both primary and secondary resources on Unitarian Universalist history, biography and theology. We are grateful to Dr. Tapp for this addition to the Spencer Library collection. Some circulation restrictions may apply to the use of this collection.
The result of one woman’s wrestling with the implications of the Holocaust, this collection is a generous gift of more than 100 titles, effectively doubling the Spencer Library’s Holocaust-related holdings and providing a significant resource of materials for United and the Upper Midwest. Reverend Powers’ Minnesota roots and her connections with United through past students make the Spencer Library a natural choice for her and, like all retiring pastors, she wants her books to “…go to a good home.” We thank her for this gift and welcome the collection to its new home in the Spencer Library.
