“One of the challenges for leaders in the ELCA is to
be able to discuss the Lutheran tradition in relation to other
Christian denominations; the ecumenical culture of United
effectively facilitates that learning. At United, I
was able to engage the ecumenical movement and still get the
specifically Lutheran training I needed through the
Minnesota Consortium of
Theological Schools.”
– Aaron Crowell, MARL 2008

Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Students
|
| United welcomes students from the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America and is home to a growing
number of ELCA students. ELCA graduates serve the church
in a wide range of ministries throughout the country.
Students will find a curriculum that satisfies the requirements
of the denomination and offers these resources: |
|
- One member of the resident faculty and two members of the staff are Evangelical Lutheran Church in America:
- ELCA clergy act as mentors to students in carefully chosen field placements;
- History and polity courses are offered in partnership with Luther Seminary or as directed or as independent studies;
- Ecumenical worship at United means that ELCA students,
faculty, staff and clergy have the opportunity to lead
worship in their own tradition as well as experience worship in
a variety of styles and traditions; and
- All students at United have access to the seminary’s
generous program of financial
aid.
I would like an alum or current ELCA student to contact me. |
