FACILITATING
DIFFICULT DISCUSSIONS
March 22, 2011
In
this course participants will learn about the dynamics of polarized
conflict and practice powerful tools that promote compassionate
and respectful communication. We will explore how to bring a peaceful
and faith-filled presence to conflict, allowing disputes to deepen
rather than harm the fabric of relationship in our communities.
Instructor: Rabbi Amy Eilberg. Eilberg directs
interfaith dialog programs in the Twin Cities, including at the
Jay Phillips Center for Interfaith Learning and the St. Paul Interfaith
Network. She is deeply engaged in peace and reconciliation efforts
in connection with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as well as
with issues of conflict within the Jewish community. At work on
a book on Judaism and Peace-making, Eilberg is a student in the D.Min.
program at United.
ARTISTRY,
CHOICE, AND LEADERSHIP IN UNDERSTANDING CONGREGATIONS
November
22, 2010
Using
the Bolman-Deal approach to "reframing" leadership decisions,
participants will learn how to analyze the structural, human resources,
political, and symbolic aspects of a problematic situation or planning
opportunity in a congregational or non-profit organization and develop
one or more approaches to guiding it to a more productive future.
Instructor: Mary E.
