Congratulations to Sharon Tan, McVay associate professor of Christian ethics, who not only finished the Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, October 7, but nicely beat her own projected time and finished the race still upright!
   

Barbara Anne Keely
Upon the unanimous recommendation of the faculty, the board of trustees granted Barbara Anne Keely promotion to full professor. Her new title is Schilling professor of leadership and economic life of the church.

   

Sharon Tan
Sharon Tan, McVay associate professor of Christian ethics, participated on a panel for a new online collaboration between Allina Health and Twin Cities Public Television (tpt). Still in development, the Life Course initiative addresses advanced illness and end-of-life issues involving legal, ethical and financial concerns. More on this online video program as it develops. Sharon is also serving on the Women’s Leadership Committee of the Association of Theological Schools.

   

Carolyn Pressler
Carolyn Pressler, Harry C. Piper Jr. professor of biblical interpretation, received the Murdale Leysath Award at the Annual Meeting of the Minnesota Conference of the United Church of Christ. The Leysath Award is presented to a woman who lifts up the role of women in ministry, provides new life in church and community, and continues to grow through further education. Carolyn also led a Bible Study for the meeting.

   

Bob Albers
Bob Albers has edited a new book, Ministry with Persons with Mental Illness and Their Families, published by Fortress Press. As editor, Bob has drawn upon a diverse group of writers dealing with a variety of topics to give religious leaders and family members helpful resources. Bob also co-wrote a chapter of the book.
